WHCS for automatic warehouses

WHCS per i magazzini automatici

The company

Bi Esse is a company founded in 1980 by Beppe Sarvia with his sister Agnese, over the years it has become the point of reference in the sector of distribution of electrical equipment, configuring itself over time, towards its customers, more like a partner than a supplier.
A widespread presence in Northern Italy and in various Eastern European countries characterize the company’s choice of always being close and available to its customers.
Bi Esse customers find the same quality everywhere in the competence of the staff, in the services offered both in the pre and post sales phase and with an extreme attention to innovation and to the discovery of new and best technologies on the market, offering products that are always at the vanguard.

The needs

To continue to pursue the objectives of quality and efficiency, Bi Esse has decided to create an automated plant consisting of two systems: Cables Warehouse and Small Parts Warehouse.
The Cables Warehouse provides the management of a warehouse of reels of electrical cables combined with a transport system that allows to add and remove reels from the system and to carry out cable cutting operations to fulfill orders.
The Small Parts Warehouse provides the management of a warehouse of products from the Bi Esse catalog combined with a transport system that allows to add and remove material from the system and to supply special bays where operators, assisted by a computer system, can prepare the boxes of material to be shipped.

The solution

For both systems, an automatic warehouse with an automatic transport line was created.
Following a careful analysis, LOGISTICS AND HANDLING SOLUTIONS was introduced to manage the automatic handling of the material and SMARTLOG to manage the warehouse.
An application has been developed for both the Cables Warehouse and the Small Parts Warehouse that allows warehouse and handling management.
The Small Parts Warehouse provides bays where operators can prepare the boxes of material to be shipped, these bays are supplied by the automatic transport system.
A SMARTWORKS application has been developed for bay management, the available operations are: Picking, Refilling and Inventory. To assist the process of forming the boxes in the bays, a Put-To-Light systems have been installed, the system helps to identify in which shipping boxes the material must be put into, this allows a single operator to process multiple boxes at the same time.

The benefits

  • Greater efficiency in warehouse management
  • Greater efficiency in the process of preparing the boxes to be shipped
  • Increase in the number of orders that can be processed daily
  • Immediate display of systems status
  • Consultation of production data
  • Optimized ergonomics
  • Elimination of paper documents
